Domestic Violence
A person requesting legal aid in respect to domestic violence is eligible for free legal aid service as stipulated by article 57 of the schedule attached to Chapter 581 of the Laws of Malta. It is advisable that a person who passes through the trauma of domestic violence to bring forth the complaint to the Police to act and if necessary, seek medical attention. The victim of domestic violence may request an appointment with our resident legal aid lawyer through email or phone or by filling the online form.
Domestic Violence During Personal Separation Procedures
When a person, has a personal separation procedure brought before the appropriate section of the Civil Court, files an application about domestic violence, the Court shall appoint the application within four days and may on its own motion, before or after the hearing, issue a protection or treatment order.
